People tend to live and die by being Politically Correct. It has BECOME Politically Correct to BE Politically Correct. It's absolutely ridiculous in my estimation. While some people can sometimes use some refining, the remaining politically correct junkies need to stop being so damned sensitive.
You never see individuals identify themselves as politically correct. Its existance is only known because its self-defined oponents rail against it. Would it be too far fetched to suggest that so-called political correctness is a concept invented by its supposed oponents to rail against what is not some monolithic trend, but the fact that their opinions are now frowned upon by wider society?
Those possessing the attitudes of a crude and uninformed 'conservatism' (for want of a better word) seem to be most assosiated with being not 'politically correct'.
One thing that is also interesting to note, is that in a world of aparant political correctness, no politician identifys themselves as politically correct, and so many rail against this percieved trend.
The invention of political correctness and subsequent attacks by its supposed oponents on all people its oponents deem fit to paint as 'politically correct' is a method of self defense by society's recalcitrant racists, sexists and homophobes. (and labelling all anti-politically correct junkies that is most surely not politically correct!)
In short, no, society is not 'too politically correct'.
YES, YES, YES! Enough already, you can't even talk anymore without thinking "Am I hurting someones feelings?" If your offended by it then maybe the problem is yours, not vice versa.
Yes! The PC days should end. Let people live with the consequences of a big mouth!

PC has a purpose, but it over reaches and then its stupid. It is great that our language be a little less bent on making woman inferior, but to neuter everything for the sake of it is just plain not sexy. Let PC modify our language a little, and then let it go away like any other fad.
I obviously don't condone racism, but I sort of admire any person who thinks "you smelly Arab" is a perfectly reasonable insult to their clearly not an Arab mate in a world full of YOU CAN'T SAY THAT! NOT EVEN JOKINGLY! YOU ARE A RACIST! opinions.
Also, God damn it my kids *will* sing Baa Baa Black Sheep and they will *not* feel guilty about it.

And anyway, offense can be found in all things at all times. Nearly every joke in the world is poking fun at *someone*.
